SC accepts DLFs proposal to pay CCI penalty in tranches (GAURAV +919990694230 for Competition Comssion of India Cases )
It's a day of contrasts for real estate major DLF . On the one hand, the Supreme Court has accepted the company's proposal to make staggered payments of the Rs 650 crore penalty imposed by the competition watchdog. On the other hand, however, there is a new battlefront with flat owners in one of its project, upping the ante before the apex court. The Supreme Court has accepted the realty major’s undertaking to pay Rs 650 crore CCI fine in tranches. As per the undertaking, DLF will be paying Rs 75 crore on the 15th of every month. Its first payment is due on January 15. Of the Rs 650 crore penalty, DLF has already paid Rs 150 crore. The company still has to pay around Rs 480 crore. The next hearing is on February 11. Meanwhile, flat owners in one of its project – Belaire – have upped the ante against DLF. The flat owners have told the Supreme Court that the real estate company should deposit Rs 250 crore registration money. According to them, DLF must repay them the registration amount with interest. DLF has collected Rs 250 crore from Belaire flat owners. The flat owners have also told the apex court that DLF is using the registration fee for business operations. These flats are yet to be registered.
