DIPP has issued Press Note 3 (2016 series) permitting FDI up to 100% under automatic route is permitted in Business to Business(B2B) e-commerce. No FDI is permitted in Business to Consumer e-commerce.
However, FDI in B2C e-commerce is permitted in certain circumstances as specified in the said Press Note.
Further, guidelines for FDI on e-commerce sector have been formulated and enumerated in the said Press Note.
